First Food

We decided to try to give Pax solids based on his curiosity in our food, his bottomless belly, the doctor's recommendation and the fact that he is right around the corner from sitting up on his own. To be honest, I wanted to wait a little while before introducing "pre grown-up food" because I think I am trying to escape the reality that our baby is growing up so quickly. He is such a little man now with quite an appetite. All of the books I read say to start introducing food anywhere between four to six months; so we are right on track. We gave him rice milk to start with and he was really unsure of the texture and didn't know what to do with the spoon. We were trying to find out if he didn't like the texture or the taste. Here is a video of Pax trying his first peas. My mom bought him baby food for Christmas that expires this month, but after that I plan to make my own food for him. I'm actually really excited about it.

How fun! We made our own food for Ella and it was the best thing we did. She loves a variety of foods and the switch to table food was easy. I have some great recipes and cookbooks if you want any ideas! Ella loved salmon and pot roast, believe it or not!

That is the exact face Madeline made for a month and a half, until we tried peas. Who would guess that peas were her favorite...obviously not Pax's I guess!

Thanks for a fun day today.

Dear Pax,
My Mommy says that you are doing a good job eating your new food. Don't worry, it will taste better every time you try it. My Mommy makes me eat peas too, but I really like them now! See you soon!
Love, your favorite cousin right now, Rylie Rae
