30 weeks and an Ultrasound

Here is a picture of Nicole at 30 weeks. We had another ultrasound today to check the placement of the placenta and all is well. Peanut is measuring right where he is supposed to and he weighs over 3 pounds. Both mama and baby appear healthy! What a blessing. This ultrasound we were able to get a good look at our baby's face. We think he has his daddy's nose. We both couldn't stop looking at our precious son!

Hard to believe, I know. All these years looking for Nessie in Scotland . . . and we've found it immortalized in cheese and carbohydrates. We shall name her . . . Chessie.

Chessie, we hardly know you, but you will make us rich someday (measured perhaps not in monetary considerations, but the richness of sharing your legacy with the cheese-curl eating world). Our Friends Shower

The weekend was so much fun! My dear, sweet friends Jess and Sara threw us the coolest co-ed shower. They both have been planning for months and made the day so special for us. We had a great turnout and it looked like everybody enjoyed themselves. Many of our friends made and brought food. Our wonderful neighbor Krissy even made us a beautiful cake. There was a "Peanut" theme, the favors were cute little blue mesh bags of peanuts, there was a game to guess how many peanuts were in a huge baby bottle, there was a game to help us find a real name for peanut and there was even a 50/50 raffle which our friend Sandy donated to Peanut's college fund. The guys were busy playing cornhole and grilling and stuff. Kudos to Kyle for being the grill Master all day!

At one point I got a little emotional and shed a few tears as it all just hit me; we are going to bring a little guy in this world very soon and there are so many people that really care about him already! It was just such a great day! It was so nice to see everyone and bring others together who haven't seen each other in a long time. Thank you so much to everyone who attended and helped with the event. Jess and Sara you guys are two of my very best friends. THANK YOU FOR MAKING OUR SPECIAL TIME SO MEMORABLE!

27 week Belly

I am totally nesting! It has felt so good to go through closets and get rid of junk we don't need. The garage sale and open house really helped us get rid of some things. Mrs. Long was so nice to get us a closet organizer and I already put a couple articles of clothing in there for Peanut! It was really fun! I can't believe we have only 12 weeks to go. I have been feeling pretty good and am really really getting excited to meet our little guy. I have been eating a little Indian food so Peanut would hopefully like it growing up. Is there really any logic in that?

Jessica Joins the Peace Corps

Well it is official Jessica is going to embark on perhaps the most challenging yet rewarding journey of her life. After a year of applying, she has been officially accepted into the Peace Corps. On July 7th my best friend for over 15 years will be heading off to Central America to serve in Tegucigalpa, Honduras for TWO YEARS! What a commitment! I am so proud of her selfless decision and dedication to helping others less fortunate than us. I will miss her terribly, but realize this is a great opportunity for her.

Hello Third Trimester!
Wow! By pregnancy week 27 Peanut is over 2 pounds and is almost 15 inches long! That's quite large considering his original size was smaller than a grain of rice! He is now fully formed, though he still has a lot of growing to do in the upcoming week. His internal organs and systems continue to grow, mature and develop. Most noticeably, his eyelids will open. Up until this point in time they were fused together. During this time the retina of the eye also starts maturing, allowing his eyes to finally receive light and translate images.
I wrote a letter to our little guy today and I just can't wait to meet him. We have been communicating through me responding to his little kicks. Although, it is not ideal to have another ultrasound, but given the low placement of the placenta we need to have another one on June 26th. I can't wait to see him again and I pray the placenta has moved up and out of the way so Peanut can make his appearance into this world in a couple of months.

Sweet Rylie

My sweet niece just woke up from a nap. She is so sweet hugging froggie. I can't wait for her and Peanut to play together!

I got Another Job

I got another job! Am I crazy? I will be teaching and coaching an aerobics class for people with disabilities. It's only once a week for an hour. It is through LEAP (Linking Employment Abilities and Potential) and I am really looking forward to it. I was also just assigned a new adoption case through FAC (Family Adoption Consultants) where the couple is adopting through Korea and mid June I will begin job coaching a student in graphic design, again through LEAP. Life is good!
