Slowing Down

I am definitely slowing down these days. Next week will be my last week of work (job coaching) and then I will really focus on getting the last minute baby stuff ready. We are almost done with the nursery. We love it! I can feel my body telling me I need to rest as every movement gets more and more uncomfortable. I absolutely dread car rides and my back and legs hurt if I am driving longer than 20 minutes. My sissy suggested we pack our bags now, but I don't know what to pack. Any suggestions? This is such a fun time for us as we prepare for our little guy to meet the world.

Take a nightgown and some comfy clothes. Also take a nice pair of warm fuzzy "labor socks." Somebody told me to do this and I thought they were nuts! (I never wear socks....HATE them!) But sure enough, my feet got cold during labor and they were nice to have!!!

I packed some sugar-free jolly ranchers. The whole time I was in labor, all I wanted to do was eat and I wasn't allowed. The nurse didn't mind me eating the candy and it warded off my obsession for food! Also, pack your baby book so you can take notes on the labor and fill out fun pages with Sanjay.:) What an exciting time...hang in there!

Those are all great suggestions. Don't forget to take the baby book like Amanda said so you can get the footprint in there. I totally forgot about that. I'll write more later when I can think of more good ideas, just wanted not to forget that! Love you, Sissy...

Take clothes to lounge in like pajama pants and nursing tank tops. You'll feel tons better in this! Also, slippers that can easily be slipped on and off when you're climbing in and out of bed. Finally I suggest your own pillows since hospital pillows are terrible! So excited for you!!!

I just packed my bag. I filled it with mini-toiletries, an outfit to bring the baby home in, socks, an outfit for me to come home in, the video camera and digital camera, and a towel (I wasn't sure if the hospital would have one for me, so better safe than sorry). Hope that helps. My doctor said not to bring my own clothes to wear at the hospital unless I really wanted them to get ruined.

Just a piece of advice from a 3 time Mom...forget your own clothes at home, except something comfy to come home in. IF you have a vaginal delivery, they will get ruined. I got a cheap light weight robe to throw over the hospital gown, and that was perfect. Did not care one bit if it got ruined. Snacks for Sanjay a MUST....Good luck! Shannon
